AN INTRODUCTION TO HANCOCK PARK IS HERE
605 South Rossmore Avenue
- Built in 1989 on Lot 26, less its southerly 50 feet, in Tract 3446
- Original commissioner: Oil and gas executive Thomas Wachtell
- Architect: VCA/Randy Washington Group
- Initial permits for the house and its four-car garage/accessory living quarters were issued to Thomas Wachtell on February 2, 1989. Attached to the house permit is a copy of a grant deed recording the 1988 transfer of the northerly portion of Lot 26 to Thomas and Esther Wachtell of Rolling Hills by Barney Rosenzweig and Barbara Corday, then owners of 615 South Rossmore next door
- A permit for a house on the same portion of Lot 26 in Tract 3446 had been issued to developer Franklin Harper by the Department of Building and Safety on November 2, 1927; the house, with an intended address of 601 South Rossmore, was not built, the empty site remaining part of the parcel occupied by 615 South Rossmore since 1925
- On June 6, 1997, Thomas and Esther Wachtell sold 605 South Rossmore to its current owner (as of 2021)
